SUMMARY:Summer Camp 2025
DESCRIPTION:ESCP Students Explore Language\, Culture\, and Business in China Through BFSU Summer Camp \n\n\n\nFrom May 7 to 20\, 2025\, 27 students from ESCP Business School participated in the “Chinese Bridge” Summer Camp at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU). Developed in partnership with BFSU and coordinated by the ESCP European Business Confucius Institute (EBCI)\, this two-week immersive programme brought together a diverse group of students for a comprehensive exploration of Chinese language\, culture\, and business. \n\n\n\nBusiness Lectures and Company Visits: Understanding China’s Economic Landscape \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo deepen students’ understanding of China’s business environment\, the summer camp featured expert-led lectures on topics such as Chinese business etiquette and market dynamics. These sessions were complemented by insightful company visits to leading Chinese firms. \n\n\n\nThe group visited: \n\n\n\nICBC Credit Suisse Asset Management\, where they explored the role of financial institutions in China’s economic growth\,Shougang Group’s Prospect Park\, a model of industrial transformation and sustainability\,Global Sailor (Beijing) Technology Co.\, Ltd.\, a national high-tech enterprise specializing in AI\, robotics\, autonomous driving\, and STEM education\,SAIC Motor Corporation\, a leading automotive manufacturer\, during the Shanghai leg of the trip.\n\n\n\nEach visit offered students a rare opportunity to connect with professionals and understand business strategies from a Chinese perspective.  \n\n\n\nImmersive Language and Cultural Exploration: Building Cross-Cultural Competence \n\n\n\nTo enhance language skills and intercultural competence\, the programme included intensive Chinese classes focused on practical communication. Tutorials and exchange sessions with local students provided opportunities for real-time language practice and cultural interaction. \n\n\n\nBeyond the classroom\, students immersed themselves in China’s rich cultural heritage through hands-on activities such as cloisonné painting and Chinese martial arts\, learning both the techniques and the cultural significance behind them. They also visited key cultural sites in Beijing and Shanghai\, including historic landmarks like the Great Wall\, the Forbidden City\, the Bund\, and Yuyuan Garden. \n\n\n\nThese experiences helped participants appreciate how ancient traditions coexist with modern urban development in contemporary China. \n\n\n\nStudent Reflections: Building a Global Mindset \n\n\n\nAt the conclusion of the programme\, students shared their reflections on the value of cross-cultural exchange and immersive learning: \n\n\n\n“It was eye-opening to see how Chinese companies innovate and operate—it gave me a new perspective on international business.” \n\n\n\n“This programme gave me the opportunity to explore not only China’s economy but also its daily life and values. It was enriching in many ways.” \n\n\n\n“Before coming\, I didn’t expect people to be so open and curious. It challenged some of my assumptions and helped me grow.” \n\n\n\n“I never thought I would consider working in China\, but now it feels like a real possibility for the future.” \n\n\n\n“Meeting people from different cultural backgrounds\, inside and outside the classroom\, helped me develop a more global mindset.” \n\n\n\nGlobal Education in Action \n\n\n\nThis summer camp experience embodies ESCP’s strategic mission: to develop responsible\, culturally aware leaders capable of navigating complexity in global markets. By combining academic learning\, business immersion\, and cultural exploration\, the program empowered students to become more agile\, reflective\, and globally competent professionals. \n\n\n\nIf you’re interested in learning more about the Summer Camp to China\, please contact Business Confucius Institute at contact@ebci.eu
